God Bless the… Chicken Dance??

Inspired by a conversation with The Pauls and some Boston Buddies last weekend…

Those who know me know that I am an ardent patriot, I have great respect and care deeply for these United States. On September 11th, I felt just as much pain and heartbreak as any man. And the next week when I watched one of the first baseball games on TV, it was the Yankees, I watched with pride as the crowd sang “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch. It was a sign of solidarity between America and her national pastime.

That being said… it’s been 5 years since those attacks. This country has embroiled herself in wars across the world looking for those responsible for that most heinous of attacks. And we still hear “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch. While I still think the song is patriotic and well worth our singing… I call for a return to normacly at the baseball park. Again, while “God Bless America” is very patriotic, I think at this point, the more patriotic thing to do is to return to the way it was. Bring back the Chicken Dance. Show me the Macarena, Hookey your Pookie once more America.

Show those terrorists that you won’t take their crap anymore. Flap your wings, your Freedom Wings if you will. Wave your arms in the name of America. Turn around in that holiest of circles, the Chicken Circle! Don’t be ashamed be proud! Doing the Chicken Dance at a baseball game is your God given right as an American!
