Cross Country Trip

I recently took a 2 week trip cross country. On plane, not on car, as I might have preferred. I had some flight credit with Continental, so I took them up on it. I spent a week with the incomprable Bobby Lau in Anaheim, California and another week or so with Steph and Jim in Raleigh, North Carolina. Random I know, but there was a method to my madness, I just dont remember it.
A short review on each.

California

I caught Orange County at the tail end of a 3 week stretch of 100+ degree heat. “But it’s a dry heat.” Never before had I understood the impact of that phrase. I could walk around in this kind of heat and barely break a sweat. Uncomfortable, sure, but not unbearable by any means. North Carolina 100+ degree heat on the other hand… At any rate, I went to the beach, day and night time, saw the Nixon Presidential Library, Disney, Hollywood / LA and other area attractions. A good time had by all and I had some real reservations about coming back to RI after that trip.

North Carolina

“Oh the humidity.” As most of the country was gripped in a heatwave, North Carolina was no exception. 100+ degree heat and air so thick I had to strain my lungs to breathe. The area I was in “The Triangle”, I think they called it, was no Southern California, but I had a good time. A lowkey vacation for sure. I saw Duke, NC State, an art gallery, went swimming, traveled to the many many area shopping centers.

Overall, the trip was a good one and a much needed vacation. It is good to be back home. I’m already planning my ‘07 vacation. I’m thinking Europe. Italy mainly, but a side trip to Germany or France would not be a bad idea. Who’s with me?
