The Number 23

Of course time is just a counting system… numbers with meanings attached to them.

I watched that Jim Carrey movie last night, The Number 23, I do not regret doing so. I thought it was cool, though I don’t think it did that well in the movies. At any rate, the movie is about a man’s obsession with… 23. How the letters in his name, birthdays, seemingly everything in his life computes to 23. I had actually heard of this before, because 23 is one of The Numbers on Lost. So when I was watching the movie, which was pretty dark and disturbing I think, I began to think of my own life…

My birthday is April 19 ( 4/19 ), 4+19 = 23
My Dad’s birthday is December 5, 1942 ( 12/5/42 ), 12+5+4+2 = 23
My Sister’s birthday is June 6, 1974 ( sorry Lee ), ( 6/6/74 ), 6+6+7+4 = 23

I know, I know, it doesnt exactly “work out” all the time, and you have to fudge the numbers. I am no mathematician, but I wonder how many other numbers this works with, with these dates?

The Guys Throw A Wedding!

Friday night saw the first of Us to get married. James married Kristin! Without a doubt the best wedding any of us had ever been to! What more can I say? Please head on over to the pics and take a look for yourself!

I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Weiner

What’s your favorite subject?
Poetry.
Really? Well, maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow.

With my time running out in my current position, I have given thought to not only other jobs to move on to, but “what if?” What if I didn’t work in the illustrious and utterly geeky IT world? Since junior high, I’ve pretty much known that computers were the way to go, but “what if?” Well, in a different life, I like to think I could’ve been any of the following ( in no particular order ):

  • US History Teacher
  • I’ve always had an affinity for the history of this country. And I like to think I could shape young minds ( high school maybe ) by teaching them about the current world we live in through history. And plus, it’d be great to have summers off.

  • Tour Manager
  • After my most recent adventure, I was told that I would make a good tour manager for a band. I can totally see myself doing it too. I like to travel, can sleep anywhere, can hold my own in street brawls, and can be pretty organized when I need to be.

  • Sports… Something
  • Baseball is my sport. I’m not counting any of my gambling as sports, as those are games. I spent 4 years in college and became involved in many aspects of college gaming. Mainly the art of scoreboard operations ( which I might try to get into in Boston ), but also time keeping, sports information, travel, accounting, and even snack bar operations. It was a pretty fun experience, and if I could make a decent wage… even better.

Though, Ive got plenty of time to change careers, so maybe all of these are possible. I only hope that as opportunities present themselves, I have the cohones to take it.
