“The family from which I am descended were remarkable for their memory, reverence for their ancestors, and length of life.”

The Stickney Family: a Genealogical Memoir of the Descendants of William and Elizabeth Stickney, from 1637 to 1869

Words written nearly 150 years ago, and they are as true today as they were then. My name is Peter Stickney, and this is my website. I could tell you about the many versions this site has gone through ( 3 in total ), to become what it is today. Yet another Wordpress / TrueType / Movable Press / CMS driven blog. Well, what can I say? I am not a very good web designer. So this is what people do when they aren’t good designers. But enough about the site? Who am I? What about Peter?

At current I am a somewhat “hip” 20-something. I am an IT Manager ( half of the IT Department ) at a small family owned pharmacy in the great state of Rhode Island. I spent 4 years in college at the University of Hartford in the not-so-great state of Connecticut. On the side I also work with assorted people writing and designing backends for websites. Mostly LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP ) run sites. What does that mean? You look at a webpage, you see pictures. I see the Code, I see the Matrix. That’s me professionally.

Personally, I am an avid reader. Crime, light sci-fi, horror, thriller, some classics mostly. Big movie fan. Ill pretty much watch anything once, what the hell. I’m a sports fan, baseball mostly, but again, Ill watch any sport, if it’s on. I enjoy bike riding. Rhode Island has a few bike paths, and I have been on most of them at this point. Hopefully all of them sooner than later. I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humor. I was voted “Most Humorous” in high school. Class of ‘00 – Cranston High School West. I’ve also been known to spin a good yarn or two.

I have no goals for this website. On principle I don’t even think I am a fan of the blog. But, until I can find something more productive to do with my own domain, we’re all in this together. Thanks for reading and please, tip generously.
