This book was an adventure / mystery / sci-fi story. It was about another species of human who evolved completely underground, in the “sub-planet”. The sub-planet being an entire world of caves and canyons all miles underground. This revelation leads on group of scholars, led by a Jesuit priest, to embark on a search for the historical Satan. They figure if there was a historical Christ, than it stands to reason, there might be a historical Satan, and he is probably one of these sub-planet humanoids. Because of the gases and lack of sun, this newly discovered species has almost bleach white skin, and has crazy bone structures, including but not limited to horns and tails.
I was interested in the book, I came across it online while looking up some of the more obscure references in I, Lucifer. It was a pretty good read. Took about 2 weeks, on and off. The chapters were long, but the characters were cool. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it might make a pretty decent movie. Kinda like that movie about the earth’s core stops spinning. It wasnt a great movie, but it was pretty entertaining to see.
