Kurt Vonnegut is certainly an interesting author. Timequake was ostensibly about a burp in the space-time continuum that caused the years 1991-2001 to be repeated. During the Timequake, no one had any free will. They were perfectly aware that they were repeating the previous 10 years of their life, but had no control to change anything, they were forced to repeat their lives, for best or worse.

But Id say the Timequake story was only a small part of the book. It was a chance for Vonnegut to tell some jokes, give some autobiographical information, some family history, wax poetical, and generally write down anything that pops into his head.

It was an interesting read, and maybe I did myself a dis-service, reading one of Vonnegut’s last novels before I read his many others. It was a good read though, and a great look into the mind of what had to be, a genius.
