This was a Christmas gift from Mikey. It was a pretty good read. I have never read anything by Crichton before, and I was not disappointed. This book was a science “faction”, if you will. Not quite fiction, but not quite factual either. It seems based on good science, but I think it also takes a lot of liberties. The book is basically a pretty strong warning to stop all the patenting of the human genome, and to be very wary of genetic research and experimentation.

Short chapters, lots of characters, and a fast paced story made this a relatively quick read for 430 pages. At one point the story brought in bounty hunters chasing people for the liver cells, a talking ( sentient ) parrot, and a… chimp/boy. The plot wasnt too confusing, even though there were so many characters and plot points, you didnt know how theyd all fit together or come together as one. And some do, some dont, but they do all fit in the bigger story of genetic research.
